When Angel Reese walked the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Sophie Cunningham noticed it. The Chicago Sky forward made history as the first pro athlete in the show, rocking pink floral lingerie and the signature angel wings. “It was destined for me,” she said confidently before stepping out.

And let’s just say, Sophie Cunningham didn’t sit still for long. “Angel walked in it and she killed it, absolutely killed it. I texted my agents right away,” Cunningham said on her “Show Me Something” podcast. That moment sparked something she’s dreamed of since childhood.
“This has been a dream of mine since second grade. I’ve always wanted to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel. I don’t really have the boobs,” she laughed.
Cunningham Eyeing A Dream Cunningham jokes about it, but she’s serious. With over 1.3 million Instagram followers and 1.6 million on TikTok, she’s one of the most recognizable faces in women’s basketball.
Her admiration for supermodel Candice Swanepoel adds another layer. “I love Candice,” Cunningham said. “She’s my favorite. She’s the most stunning one. They’re all stunning. It’d be so fun to walk in that fashion show. Angel really did kill it. She looked stunning. She looked beautiful.”
Cunningham’s season wasn’t smooth. She was playing good before an MCL tear in her right knee cut her season short. Still, she averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and stepped up when Caitlin Clark missed time.
Now, as she rehabs and plans her return, she’s also setting her sights on the runway. If Reese broke the door open, Cunningham might just strut right through it. Fans already love her mix of grit and charm. Seeing her on that stage next year wouldn’t surprise anyone, least of all Sophie Cunningham herself.
Because when she says she wants something, she means it.
